Burgos Cathedral, a magnificent example of Spanish Gothic, has served as a model for the construction of many Catholic churches in Europe and especially in Latin America. The Cathedral is the main attraction of the city along with the tomb of the legendary Sid - the national hero of Spain. The decor inside and outside of the Cathedral is rich in details and gives the impression of a light tracery design.

Burgos Cathedral is functioning, so it holds regular masses and religious ceremonies. Moreover, the cathedral is located on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostella, and therefore worshipers can often be seen here. In addition to the liturgical area, which is free to enter for the visitors, the temple has a museum part. Check its opening hours as well as the price of the tickets on the official website of the Cathedral http://www.catedraldeburgos.es/.

The museum of Burgos Cathedral’s collection includes such national relics as the legendary sword of El Cid, as well as some of his personal belongings. History buffs will appreciate these items and fans of Gothic will be enchanted by the interior decor with patterned stained glass, monumental arches and columns that somehow seem so fragile and light.

When planning a visit to Burgos Cathedral it is recommended to make a choice in favor of modest clothing covering the knees and shoulders.
