Cairo is an ancient center of Arabic east and Africa. Taking into account the number of ancient monuments, this city can compete with many European capitals. It is located along both sides of the Nile, which divides the city in two parts – the New and the Old City. The east coast is famous for a straggling line of houses with wonderful mosques and minarets, while the west coast is full of modern government buildings. Ancient Giza known for its temple complexes and pyramids, the main sight of Egypt, is also situated near Cairo.
