Place Vendôme is an octagonal square in Paris surrounded by buildings with identical facades. The square was laid out in 1699 by the architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart in honor of Louis XIV and named after the Palace of César de Vendôme. Dominating the square is the 44-metre Vendome Column with a statue of Napoleon.
