New Orleans is a city of jazz and voodoo magic situated between the Gulf of Mexico, Lake Ponchartrain and swing moors. Combination of European, African and Indian cultures created original character, gave birth to rich folklore and wonderful musical traditions, which are hallowed by many musical festivals including the jazz ones. Thanks to them, New Orleans is also called Careless City, although it has lots of nicknames. Mardi Gras (also Fat Tuesday) is a colorful carnival full of drive and energy which is really widespread here.
