ECO's Points
Though this city seems to be contrary to the logic and physics, it really exists. Venice is the city built on the water, and here romance-full canals serve as roads and elegant gondolas substitute fuming cars. Stone-made houses and palaces of Venice seem to float, hiding amazing engineering under the water surface, and keeping nothing but a stunning architecture above it. The city is flooded with art, thanks to the Renaissance, the leadership of which it had taken from Florence by the XVI century. Since that time Venice became the center of Italian art of all kinds. Against common sense, fragile beauty of Venice remains safe despite great amount of people, getting here for already one and a half millennium.
